Numeracy in Kereru

Children enjoy writing on small white boards and solidifying their learning on IPads. Maths is very popular and we are seeing lots of learning happening in our hour of numeracy each day.

Term 2

We have so many superstars in Kereru who are using their H.E.A.R.T values everyday and working hard on their learning. This term we have Mrs Jenny Greening working with us supporting ESOL students, Welcome Mrs Jenny!

Last week, many of the staff visited our new school site in Wigram Skies, where we had to don hi vis jackets and hard hats. It was great standing on the actual foundations and picturing where we will be working next year!

Busy Times in Kereru.

Week 9 already! We are all very excited to have a 5 day weekend coming up over Easter!!! Then back for a 3 day week, then one more week until the end of Term 1.

Today we welcomed Paula back and Athan, who has come to us from Thailand.

Over the past few weeks , our Heart Awards and Caught Being Good certificates have gone to Reef, Andrea, Dayzharn and Charlotte.

Students have been using IPads during Maths, Literacy and on Action Stations. They are learning new skills and practicing using a range of apps and QR codes, which take them straight to websites.

We recently had the Webber Bros Adrenalin Circus come and perform for us and a few lucky students won tickets!

Here are some photos of children working collaboratively at Action Stations and using their Heart values to help others, use kind words, take pride in their work and explore.

Keep up the good work Kereru and aspire to do your best.

Half way through Term 1.

Week 5 saw 4 students receive a Caught Being Good Award and a duffy book. We are so proud of Tyrone, Tumua, Haven and Grace!

We would like to welcome Lathan Manning who has come to us from Weedons School.

This week Kereru have been learning about Respect. Children came up with ideas about what respect looks like and we made a padlet.

Then we asked children to role play in groups of 3 and show us what being disrespectful looks like and what being respectful looks like. The children had a lot of fun and we showed the video in assembly today.

Thank you to all of our superstars who presented for us today: Jordyn, Annalise, Te Hari, Haven, Quinn, Dayzharn, Fineheka, Alister, Grace, Andrea, Jacob and Hope. You were amazing!!!!

This week's Heart Awards went to Dasha and Te Hari, well done you super students, it is wonderful seeing children's confidence growing and their self-esteem and Hauora improving.

Week 3 and 4 have been  busy weeks as we start our Literacy programmes. Children have been learning, creating and sharing their work in many different ways. They are learning how to be safe on Ipads and use QR codes to take them straight to websites so they can practice Maths and Reading.

On Friday we had a Mufti Day and children brought a gold coin as a donation to help Tonga. They looked amazing and some even wore their national costume.

Thank you to our children's parents for listening to their child read and helping them with their spelling words, it certainly helps them learn.
